WACO - Highland Baptist Church will be serving as a drop-off location in Waco for Operation Christmas Child, the world's largest Christmas project of its kind.
Right now, local volunteers are busy preparing collection sites around the city to receive some 12,700 gift-filled shoe boxes, packed by caring Waco residents. Toys, school supplies and necessity items will go to kids in need in 100 different countries.
Operation Christmas Child is an effort that has hand-delivered 86 million gifts to kids worldwide since 1993. National Collection Week will be November 14-21.
For more information on how to participate in Operation Christmas Child, call (817) 595-2230 or visit www.samaritanspurse.org/occ. You can also track the destination country of your gift by going to the web site.
