HILL COUNTY - Hill County authorities say 32-year old Joseph Jones of Waco has admitted to accidentally running over 26-year old Arlicia Williams, then leaving her body on the side of the road.
The body of the missing Lacy Lakeview woman was found Friday around 5 p.m. in Hill County along FM-308, at Hill County Rd. 3150, between Malone and Penelope. It was too decomposed to get a solid ID, but a medical examiner confirmed her identity Tuesday.
Investigators from the Hill County Sheriff's Office, the Hillsboro Police Department and a Texas Ranger have been interviewing Joseph Jones. That's because Williams car was found at a Hillsboro motel on Sunday, which is where police say Williams and Jones had spent time the day before she was reported missing.
After examining forensic evidence under Williams' car, authorities now believe she was run down by her own car. Investigators also believe she was killed somewhere else, then dumped along the roadway.
Jones was arrested Tuesday night on a probation violation warrant out of McLennan County and is currently being held without bond in the McLennan County Jail on an out of state hold for a parole violation from Wisconsin for two counts of assault there. He's also been charged with assault and unlawful restraint in connection with an incident in Lacy Lakeview that happened earlier this year.
The Hill County Sheriff's Office is seeking a warrant for his arrest while they wait for Williams' autopsy results to come back from Dallas.
