Sports Minute: Here is the latest Texas sports news from The Associated Press

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Julius Randle had 18 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists and rookie Lonzo Ball made a triumphant return to the lineup as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Dallas Mavericks 124-102. Ball, who was sidelined for 15 games with a knee injury, had nine points, seven rebounds and six assists in 17 minutes.

HOUSTON (AP) - James Harden scored 31 points and the Houston Rockets won their 11th straight game with a 120-102 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves, who lost All-Star Jimmy Butler to an apparent right knee injury. Butler left the game late in the third quarter.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Major League Baseball honored victims of the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, by having its teams wear caps with the school's initials during their spring openers. Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School baseball coach Todd Fitz-Gerald and his sons were guests of the Houston Astros, and other baseball and softball players from the school were welcomed by the Miami Marlins, where they mingled with players and team CEO Derek Jeter.

DENVER (AP) - Nikola Jokic had 28 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists before fouling out, Wilson Chandler had 18 points and a season-high 16 rebounds, and the Denver Nuggets beat the San Antonio Spurs 122-119. Jokic has a triple-double in three straight games and six this season, but didn't stick around for the finish.

FRISCO, Texas (AP) - Kellen Moore is the new quarterbacks coach for the Dallas Cowboys after spending the previous three seasons as the backup to Tony Romo and then Dak Prescott. Moore's move is part of a significant overhaul of coach Jason Garrett's staff. Although offensive coordinator Scott Linehan and defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli are returning, the Cowboys are bringing in eight new coaches and promoting two.

SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) - Texas Rangers reliever Chris Martin won't need help finding his home ballpark. It is home. Martin went to Arlington High School, not far from Globe Life Park. The right-hander took a circuitous journey before finally pitching for his hometown team. Martin spent the last two seasons in Japan following his first stint in the majors. He played independent ball before getting that shot with the Yankees.

SUPRISE, Ariz. (AP) - Pitcher Jesse Chavez and the Texas Rangers have finalized a $1 million, one-year contract that is not guaranteed. The base salary would escalate to $1.5 million if the 34-year-old right-hander is on the 25-man active roster on opening day. Chavez was 7-11 with a 5.34 ERA in 21 starts and 17 relief appearances for the Los Angeles Angels last year. To clear a roster spot, Texas put left-hander Joe Palumbo on the 60-day disabled list.
