Sports Minute: Here is the latest Texas sports news from The Associated Press

TORONTO (AP) - Brian McCann and Josh Reddick hit back-to-back home runs, and the Houston Astros beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-3 to move one step closer to their second straight AL West title. The defending World Series champions have a magic number of two over Oakland to clinch the division _ which would set up a best-of-five postseason matchup against AL Central champion Cleveland.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Jose Briceno delivered a pinch-hit homer leading off the 11th inning, and the Los Angeles Angels snapped their five-game skid with a 5-4 victory over Texas. After Taylor Cole (3-2) retired the Rangers in the 11th, the Angels' rookie catcher walked off with his sixth career homer to center off Matt Moore. Shohei Ohtani hit his 21st homer in the first inning and Michael Hermosillo added his first homer as the Angels opened the final homestand of their fourth straight season out of the playoffs.

FRISCO, Texas (AP) - Dak Prescott has the fewest throws of at least 15 yards down the field among quarterbacks who have played all three games this season. It isn't really news to the leader of the Dallas Cowboys. Whether it's play-calling, blocking or an overmatched group of receivers, the Dallas passing game is broken. Even Ezekiel Elliott's first 100-yard rushing game of the season couldn't fix it. The Cowboys will try again Sunday against Detroit.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - The Texas Longhorns got big wins at home the last two weeks. Now they have to do it on the road if they intend to remain Big 12 title contenders. Texas visits Kansas State on Saturday, where the Longhorns have lost five straight since their last win there in 2002. Texas is back in the rankings at No. 18 after a three-game winning streak.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Texas guard Andrew Jones is practicing with his team nine months after the school announced he had leukemia. Coach Shaka Smart says Jones has been able to participate in some drills but he gets held out of others as team doctors try to rebuild his strength. It is not clear if he will play in a game this season. Texas opens the season Nov. 6 against Eastern Illinois.

MIAMI (AP) - Training camps are opening in the NBA, and there's already plenty of stories to follow. There's a Jimmy Butler saga in Minnesota, a sense of nostalgia perhaps around Golden State, a wide-open Eastern Conference race, Vince Carter beginning anew, San Antonio trying to extend a playoff streak and so much more.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich is getting used to a lot of new faces at training camp. The NBA franchise lost guard Tony Parker in free agency, Manu Ginobili retired and Kawhi Leonard was traded to Toronto in the offseason. DeMar DeRozan is among the new players in San Antonio. Camp starts Thursday.

TORONTO (AP) - Kawhi Leonard spoke publicly in his first appearance as a Toronto Raptor and not surprisingly was the center of attention. Leonard joined the Raptors in a summertime blockbuster trade with the San Antonio Spurs. How long he stays in Toronto is unclear but the former NBA Finals MVP and two-time defensive player of the year who was limited to nine games last season because of a right quadriceps injury insists he is ready to go as the team leaves for training camp in Vancouver, British Columbia.
