Sports Minute: Here is the latest Texas sports news from The Associated Press

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Adrian Beltre had two RBI singles to get to 2,998 hits as the Texas Rangers beat the Orioles 8-2. Elvis Andrus homered for Texas and Nomar Mazara had three doubles. Beltre is close to becoming only the 31st player with 3,000 hits. Mazara put the Rangers ahead to stay with his two-run double in the first, then scored on Beltre's hits in the third and fifth innings.

DETROIT (AP) - Josh Reddick hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning, lifting the Houston Astros to a 6-5 victory over the Detroit Tigers. Reddick drove in five runs, and the Astros won despite getting only three innings from starter Dallas Keuchel in the left-hander's return from a neck injury.

OXNARD, Calif. (AP) - Dallas Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith is on the field and in pads for the first time in more than a year and a half. He had a devastating knee injury in his final college game at Notre Dame. While questions remain over whether Smith can find the form that likely would have made him a top-five pick in 2016, there's no question about the resolve of a second-rounder the Cowboys took even though they figured he wouldn't as a rookie last season. Now Dallas awaits the payoff on a gamble.

OXNARD, Calif. (AP) - A third Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman will miss the start of the season because of a suspension. The NFL says defensive end Damontre' Moore has been suspended without pay for the first two games of the regular season for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

DETROIT (AP) - The Houston Astros have put outfielder George Springer on the 10-day disabled list because of left quadriceps discomfort. Houston also activated left-hander Dallas Keuchel and right-hander Will Harris from the DL.

BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) - Simone Manuel has backed up her historic victory at the Olympics with a world championship in the 100-meter freestyle. Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom jumped out to a quick lead and was under her own world-record pace when she made the flip, but the 20-year-old American caught her on the very last stroke to take the gold in Budapest.

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. (AP) - Tim Raines, Jeff Bagwell and "Pudge" Rodriguez are ready for induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame. The trio of former star players will be inducted Sunday along with former Commissioner Bud Selig and retired Kansas City and Atlanta executive John Schuerholz, who were elected in December by a veterans committee.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Candace Parker had 11 points, 17 rebounds and 11 assists to become the sixth WNBA player with a triple-double, and the Los Angeles Sparks beat the San Antonio Stars 85-73. Earlier this week, Atlanta's Layshia Clarendon had a triple-double rescinded after two of her assists were later taken away in a league review.
