McLennan County- Thousands of dollars worth of crack cocaine is off the streets after state troopers busted a man on Interstate 35 near Lorena Monday afternoon.
State troopers say around 1 p.m. they pulled 35-year-old Abrahama Anzaldua Jr. in a 1999 Ford pick up over for speeding on the northbound side of Interstate 35. However, shortly after the stop, troopers got suspicious and decided to search the truck. That's when they found the drugs.
They reportedly found 905 grams or two pounds of crack cocaine inside the dashboard on the passenger side and it was all in what's called "biscuit" or "cookie" form, meaning it hasn't been broken up into small pieces yet. Troopers think the street value of that is around $66,000.
Senior Corporal Charlie Morgan says the bust is just another example of good police work.
"Our troopers are trained to look beyond a regular routine traffic stop and we were able to take a significant amount of crack cocaine off the street before it was able to harm someone."
After troopers found the drugs they tore apart the truck looking for more, but haven't found any more so far.
Anzaldua was arrested and is being held in the McLennan County Jail. The charges against him are still pending.
