WACO - Two Waco women are behind bars on accusations they both left their young children at their homes alone while they went to a night club.

Officers responded around 1:50 a.m. on Sunday to an apartment in the 1200 block of Carter Drive where the 1-year-old and 3-year-old children of 20-year-old Trashenda Sanders were reportedly found by neighbors wandering around in the parking lot.

Police then responded to another call around 4:40 a.m. to a residence in the 2800 block of Madison Drive in reference to a neighbor calling about a child seen crying by an apartment window. The 9-month-old and 2-year-old children of 20-year-old Makayla Jelks were found in the apartment alone.

Officers say the two women had left their children alone in their apartments while they went to a club.

Jelks and Sanders were arrested and transported to the McLennan County Jail. They are both charged with Abandoning or Endangering a Child.
