WACO - Academy Award-winning actor Robert Duvall was in Waco last week to make an appearance in a local television commercial production.

Residents may recall Duvall was in central Texas for the recent Billy Joe Shaver trial.

During his time in town, he was in a Waco City Cable Channel production shoot for a Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum commercial.

"It was really special to direct such a recognized actor," said Larry Holze, City of Waco Communications Director. "Of course he really didn't need much directing. I just gave him the basis of the script and what we had in mind, as well as where the key lighting spot was, and he took it from there, ad-libbing three different versions."

Waco Mayor, Virginia DuPuy, was present at the shoot and presented Duvall with a plaque naming him an honorary Board Member of the Texas Ranger Museum.

The commercial will begin airing in May across the state.
