WACO - A late night robbery has an owner mad, not only at the thieves who stole a Ford Mustang off his lot, but also at the police for not going to the lot to investigate it.
Richard Goswick, of R.G.'s Certified Auto Sales, told News Channel 25 it happened over the weekend.
Thieves ripped up a metal post in order to steal the Mustang off the lot, according to Richard Goswick.
Now the owner is mad at police.
"I'm not an expert," Goswick says, "but I don't know why fingerprints can't be taken. It just seems like a general lack of interest."
The vehicle was discovered missing by employees, who notified management.
According to Goswick, when he called police, they told him and his manager to fill out a police report.
"I was told they weren't coming out and they'll fill it out over the phone," he said.
Waco police told News Channel 25 it is not their procedure to send an officer to investigate this type of case.
"It's unfortunate that he feels like that when, in fact, our procedures are to get the information out to officers in a quicker manner," said Sergeant Ryan Holt. "Our policy ensures that an officer goes out to a crime scene."
Sgt. Holt added, Goswick's situation did not constitute a crime scene.
"Unfortunately, C.S.I. creates some unrealistic expectations on technology," Sgt. Holt said. "I'm not saying it's impossible, but fingerprints on a concrete post is incredibly difficult."
Monday night, Waco Police did locate the Ford Mustang that was stolen.
