Alleged Fort Hood gunman: Still getting paid, but no bank for cash

BELTON - Despite the massacre at Fort Hood, the accused gunman, Major Nidal Hasan, is still receiving paychecks from the Army.

This is standard for servicemen awaiting military trial, but now he has no where to put the cash.

In June, Bank of America put him on notice that it will terminate Hasan's checking account, without explanation.

"The fact is they terminated it and my response was to find banks that are suitable alternatives to get his monthly pay," Galligan said.

Galligan told News Channel 25 he went to six banks, including Fort Hood National Bank, all of them said no.

"It just represents this pervasive, underlying, discriminatory attitude towards Major Hasan," Galligan added.

Galligan did say he is in contact with the Army, trying to figure out some sort of compromise on how Hasan can get his paycheck and get his money.

As a side note, Galligan said he's still going through thousands of pages of documents and waiting on even more, which means he may ask that Hasan's next scheduled hearing in October be delayed again.
