WACO - The Central Texas woman charged with stealing more than $65,000 from the Heart of Texas Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse pleaded guilty Monday.
Cindy Lynn Love is charged for stealing the money from her former employer. Staffers at the HOT Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse discovered more than $28,000 dollars were missing after a Oct. 2008 audit.
After further investigation, the Council found $65,230.10 had been misused. The investigation also revealed Love withdrew funds from the Council's accounts to remodel her home and day-to-day living expenses.
After being confronted during the first audit, Love returned $12,000 in restitution, leaving the missing amount around $53, 230.10.
Nineteenth District Court Judge Ralph Strother accepted her guilty plea and ordered a pre sentence investigation. The state is asking for love to serve 10 years probation.
Love is asking for deferred adjudication probation which means if she completes her probation, the conviction would be removed from her record. The judge said restitution is also to be determined.
Sentencing will be December 7th at 10 a.m.
