LIMESTONE COUNTY - Two Central Texas residents died from injuries sustained in a head-on crash on Sunday near Mexia, about 40 miles east of Waco.

State Troopers say Cherry Houdek Billings, 31, of Mexia, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier southbound on State Highway 14 when she drifted across the center line around 5:15 a.m. and collided with a 1985 Ford F-150 driven by Martin Rodriguez, 45, of Mexia.

Rodriguez was transported to Limestone County Medical Center in Groesbeck where he was pronounced dead at 7:15 a.m. Billings was transported to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center where she later died at 9:25 a.m.

Troopers reported that conditions were clear and dry at the time of the accident.
