FORT HOOD - A Fort Hood soldier has been sentenced to life in prison in the stabbing death of another soldier last year.

On Nov. 22, Killeen police received a call that a man had been stabbed in the 100 block of Prather Drive. Officers arrived to find a man lying in the front yard with a stab wound to the chest.

The victim, 20-year-old Spc. David Middlebrooks, was transported to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Middlebrooks was an infantryman in 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division.

Pfc. Donnie Stevens Jr. was arrested by Fort Hood Police and later turned over to the Killeen Police Department.

He was found guilty on Thursday of unpremeditated murder at a Fort Hood court-martial and sentenced to life in prison. He must also forfeit all pay and allowances and has received a dishonorable discharge.
