KILLEEN - Multi-million dollar equipment is being left unused by the Killeen/Fort Hood Regional Airport due to maintenance issues.
Two jet bridges, which allow passengers to board flights have been out of order for the past week and a half due to an issue with one of them, which as of now, has no explanation.
ThyssenKrupp, a global corporation and the manufacturer of the jet bridges is taking a closer look at and footing the bill for the repairs.
"The only thing is that this problem that they had, is a problem that they haven't encountered before, so they have great interest in it, because they have a number of bridges like this around the world, so they're very interested in it," said John Sutton, director of Killeen/Fort Hood Regional Airport.
Sutton went on to say the problem lies with an actuator which controls the swivel of the cab that boards passengers.
While the repair is not expected to affect outbound and inbound passengers because the airport has four other bridges, it leaves two expensive pieces of equipment out of order.
The city of Killeen used at least $2 million of federal grant money to purchase the jet bridges in 2007.
