CORSICANA - A man pleaded guilty on Wednesday to fraud charges for his alleged involvement in a multi-million dollar mortgage family fraud scheme in several Texas counties.

Darrell Lynn Marriott, 57, Gun Barrel City, Tex., was sentenced in Navarro County to 28-years in prison. Under the terms of the plea deal, he will also enter an identical plea of guilty in Kaufman County, about 35 miles southeast of Dallas.

Marriott, along with several family members, profited from property sales by providing false information on residential loan applications and documents while operating two business they owned, "One Way Home & Land" in Navarro County and "Torenia Inc.," in Kaufman County.

The scheme reportedly cost the federal government and taxpayers millions of dollars.

Marriott's wife, Kandace Marriott, 54, is currently serving a 99-year sentence in Navarro County after she was found guilty of first-degree mortgage fraud in March 2009. She also pleaded guilty to charges in Kaufman County and was sentenced to two 20-year terms.

Their daughter, Kally Marriott, 24, of Rockwall, Tex., is charged with engaging in organized criminal activity for securing the execution of a document by deception.

A relative of the family also allegedly involved, Karen Hayes, 59, of Henderson County, is serving an 18-year sentence for falsifying documents to obtain property or credit.

Investigators found that the family repeatedly falsified documents and information, including the buyers' rent payment verification statements, proof of employment and information about Social Security benefits.
