BELTON - The Belton Independent School District Board of Trustees named its lone finalist for superintendent on Monday.
Current Belton Intermediate School Principal Dr. Susan Kincannon will assume her new role after current Belton ISD Superintendent Dr. Vivian Baker steps down at the end of December.
"We are proud to name Dr. Susan Kincannon as our lone finalist for this position," said Randy Pettenger, Board President. "She has served this district well as principal, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and as our Deputy Superintendent. We want to continue with the success that we have had and goals that have been set and believe that Dr. Kincannon can take us to that next level of success."
Since coming to Belton ISD in 2000, Dr. Kincannon has had 20 years of experience in public education as a teacher, principal and administrator. She was named Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in 2002 and Deputy Superintendent in 2007.
After receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, she received a Master's Degree in Educational Administration from Tarleton State University.
This past spring, she received her doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Baylor University.
The school board will officially vote at its June 14 regular meeting.
