Bossier Country bankruptcy: New Problems

FAIRFIELD- Longtime auto dealer, Bossier Country, in Freestone county was facing a multi-million dollar debt with Chrysler Financial a couple weeks ago.

Because of the debt, customers of Bossier country couldn't register their vehicles and were left to renew temporary plates every 30 days.

Now, other customers are facing another serious problem with the same dealership.

Two customers told News Channel 25 they traded in a car at Bossier Country for a new vehicle, only to find out months later, they now have to make hundreds of dollars in car payments not only on the new car, but the one they traded in.

Kayse Myers is the single mom of a 4-year-old boy. She recently traded in a truck, with the thinking that Bossier Country would pick up the payments on the vehicle, according to her, that wasn't the case.

"Bossier filed bankruptcy, they informed me they wouldn't be making any payments," she said Tuesday.

While Kayse made payments on her new car, she was also making them on the car she traded in. That car is being driven someone else, in Dallas.

"The vehicle is still in my name, someone else is driving it, while I'm still making payments on it," she explained.

Kayse isn't alone, Ron Smith traded in two vehicles to Bossier Country when he got a new truck, now he's stuck with those payments.

He said the process ruined his credit, something Kayse says she's hoping to avoid.

News Channel 25 called Bossier Country several times Monday and Tuesday for reaction to this story, both times calls were never returned.

Kasey Myers did say she ran into the Bossier Country GM Randy Pretzer at bankruptcy court Tuesday, he told her he couldn't pay off the vehicle, but would help with December's payment.
