BELLMEAD - The one-year-old girl attacked by her family's pit bull Wednesday night is back home with her family for Thanksgiving.
Sadie Theriault was treated and released from Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center after her family dog began biting and scratching at her face. Theriault's mother Katie, said she and her daughter were in the living room and the dog was in the kitchen. She said it then ran into the living room and began attacking Sadie.
Theriault said the dog did not have a history of violence and described the attack as "random" and "unprovoked." Sadie has a deep gash on the left side of her head and various other scratch marks on her face.
News Channel 25's camera was rolling when animal control showed up to remove the dog. It took three tries to force it into the cage, while police looked on ready to draw their guns.
Tune in to News Channel 25 Friday for an exclusive interview with the Theriault family regarding the incident.
