KILLEEN - Fort Hood officials have announced the name of the soldier who was killed while crossing the street late Friday night.
Specialist Robert Christopher Walden, 25, of Peru, Ind., was cossing the street near Clear Creek and Desert Willow Roads around 11:00 p.m. when he was struck. Paramedics rushed him to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
Walden entered the military in May 2006 as an infantryman. He was assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, and has been assigned to Fort Hood since January 2007.
Walden deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from September 2008 to June 2009.
