Teen dies after motorcycle accident

TEMPLE - A 16-year-old Lott girl has died of injuries suffered in a motorcycle earlier in the week in Bell County.

The Department of Public Safety reports Stephanine Ann Wingard died at Scott and White Hospital in Temple about 9:45 last night. The DPS reports she was a passenger on a 2004 Honda Shadow motorcycle driven by 20-year-old David Lavon Miller of Chilton.

The accident occurred about 12:45 p.m. Sunday about 5.7 miles East of Temple on FM 3369. The motorcycle was westbound on FM 3369 and entered a curve, the driver drifted into the opposing lane to make the curve, noticed and oncoming car and moved over into his lane, losing control of the motorcycle.

The motorcycle left the road and entered a field traveling about 100 yards and striking a culvert, ejecting both riders. The driver had a helmet, the passenger did not.
