WACO - Southbound Interstate 35 was reopened just north of Waco after it was closed for more than six hours when a pick up smashed head-on into a 18-wheeler just after 2:00 a.m.
The accident happened between Mile Markers 336 and 337, when a Ford F-150 was traveling north in the Southbound lane on Interstate 35.
The big rig and the pick up collided, killing the pick up's driver.
After the collision, the big rig's cab caught on fire, but the driver made it out safely.
The pick up's driver, 28-year-old Marcus Stahl of Waco is believed to have died on impact.
Judge Jean Laster was called to the scene and ordered Stahl's body to be sent to Dallas for autopsy.
At this time it is still unknown where and why Stahl got onto the highway going the wrong way.
